GENERAL

★ In-character
☆ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes.
☆ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Yes.
☆ RELATIONSHIPS: Maybe. He's still in love with his ex-wife so it would be a hard sell.
☆ PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: As a regular human nearing 2800 years old, his mind is very full, almost always near to brimming over. Intelligent and quick, he simply doesn't have enough brain to hold everything he knows. This mostly concerns memories and attachments; skills tend to fade, sitting in the background, but he hasn't hit capacity. Hidden in his subconscious is an activation phrase to make him unthinkingly obedient to the speaker: "Hellhound, heel." He has no supernatural mental barriers to speak of. His original name is Romulus. {The Pines: does not remember his original name atm.}
☆ MAGICAL INFORMATION: Completely non-magical. His existence, however, is one of undying life. It doesn't end, so much as it will finish eventually by some natural cause. True immortality in the sense that his body rejects all death despite having a notable metaphysical connection to it (this being his connection to Abel, who is an immortal spirit). Because of this metaphysical connection and to higher powers in his metaverse, he does have resistance to divine powers. Not magic, just cosmic bullshit. In the case of them being one and the same, go 50/50.
☆ MEDICAL INFORMATION: He is left-handed and his organs are in mirror positions compared to usual biology. This is due to being a mirror image twin with Abel. Otherwise, he is in perfect health and any damage done to him reverts itself given time relative to the size of the wound, up to and including death.
☆ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Dogs. Cain has a fairly strong aversion to them and could react poorly to having one appear unexpectedly.

★ Out of character
☆ BACKTAGGING: Yes.
☆ THREADHOPPING: By permission or during a low-tension thread is fine.
☆ FOURTHWALLING: What is the fourth wall for an OC?
☆ DO NOT WANT: Aside from graphic descriptions of body horror, I'm very laid-back. Go for whatever, and I'll let you know if I have found something I actually do not want.
☆ ANYTHING ELSE? have a cute baby Bomer

DEATHSIGHT

Cain has the handy-dandy ability to see the time in which someone is fated to die written across their neck like a clock. They will only show the date of a canon death. Cain cannot see the numbers through physical blocks like collars or turtlenecks; characters who are immortal can either have an innumerable amount of numbers wrapping around their neck or some sort of infinity symbol, etc., to indicate life until the end of their reality. Cain does not tell people about when they will die, nor does he know how it happens. This is merely for reference when threading with other characters for him to judge the situation.

For those who are alive, this is represented in gold numbers counting down to the moment they will die. Depending on canon material or ongoing canons, this can be fudged or headcanon to your liking.
- Anyone who has cheated death and lives past when they should have very definitely died would be a golden string of zeroes. People in Cain's world call these people "runners".
For those who are dead, they will have silver numbers showing the total amount of time they lived in positive numbers. Could also be said that their timer reset to the very start of their life once they've truly come to the end of it. This can be a result of either coming from post-canon death or they were a ghost all along, etc., etc.
For those who are unique cases, such as zombies or strange existences, there are a few options.
- Those who die in canon and are revived can either be considered "life after death" existences, but if this is part of their ability set or destiny to not have died during that time and be saved through whatever ability/circumstances, chances are they'll be treated as anyone else who is alive.
- Death gods or spirits relating to death may have their numbers actually carved into their neck and bloodied, and be either positive or negative depending on how you perceive their existence.

So, please fill out the following form and let me know what Cain would see!
If your answers contain spoilers for ongoing or obscure canons, consider using {<font color="#f7f7f7">this code</font>} to blank them out.

Character: Nico di Angelo ([personal profile] deathkid)
Type: very weird
Time: Nico is both 16 and 86. He was born in the early 30s, but due to plot purposes in his canon, got stuck in a Vegas hotel for about 70 years during which he never aged. He emerged at the age of ten and began aging again, however he still has the aura of someone "out of his time." he's also put himself in a "death trance" (see link below), essentially "dying" in a sense while... somehow still staying alive? it's weird.
Notes: he can sense when ppl are dying too

sorry for delay, rl happened

Character: Steve Rogers (616) ([profile] livngsymbol)
Type: Alive
Time: Probably a while until he dies yet, since he has slow aging and is literally too stubborn for death.
Notes: Anything else? A few things of note that might affect the number: First, there's the obvious falling into suspended animation in the ice for a couple decades. I don't know if that counts as cheating death or not. But also Steve did just recently die by being shot and was technically in a limbo-like state and then revived? Uh... comics science? He was "mostly dead" not all dead, so I think he'd still count as living.

Character: Christian Fischer ([personal profile] buildingcastles)
Type: weird
Time: He has been in a weird state for two years now.
Notes: So Christian is not technically in existence at this point. He is alive, but in the way myth has mortals travel to the fairy realm/ heaven/ the dragon palace and become something not-quite-normal. He technically "died" by severing his ties to the mortal plane and entering a halfway state, still living, but without his former identity as a normal human. In essence, he's sort of like a spirit or mythical being who is only tentatively tied by one mortal thread to the human world. It's like Schroedinger's cat.

Character: [Spike] ([personal profile] idolpire)
Type: Undead
Time: 28-31(ish) years alive, 100+ years undead.
Notes: Buffy-verse vampires are people that are 'infected' by demons. They retain much of their old personality and memories, but it's distorted by the demonic presence, which you see when they shift to bite people. As of Spike's current canon point, Angel is the only vampire in existence 'cursed' with a soul and is incredibly different as Angel vs Angelus. (Later on in canon, Spike goes and gets himself a soul and is still 'Spike', but just less likely to actually harm a human without good reason all on his own instead of because of a chip.)

Type: Alive.
Time: He dies in 2016, which is three years from his canon-point.
hellshot: <user name=munageinu site=twitter.com> ([94])

[personal profile] hellshot 2017-05-24 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Character: [Reaper | Gabriel Reyes] ([personal profile] hellshot)
Type: Weird
Time: Lived between the age of 30-35 years of age. (Probably closer to 35) and then died. A mix of pre-existing chemicals in his body along with an experimental medical procedure including nanites (nanomachines), his body is in a stasis between life and death. He's not alive but he's not dead, but he seems to be both in a constant cycle of death and rebirth.
Notes: The 'golden number' Jacob sees would probably be something like a countdown that constantly resets. It drains down to 00:00:00 and then jumps back up to 00:10:43 and then counts down rapidly from there. It always hits zero, but always resets back to larger numbers afterwords.

(I hope that even makes sense)
ragnarsson: ([12.14] What are you doing)

[personal profile] ragnarsson 2017-05-26 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Ivar "The Boneless" Ragnarsson ([personal profile] ragnarsson)
Type: Alive
Time: Probably a while till he dies yet, but Vikings tend to not live terribly long. Fifty is old in their society. This could change depending on how the next two seasons go. Hooray for ongoing canons.
Notes: Nope.
sybaritic: (haa119)

[personal profile] sybaritic 2017-05-29 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: [Eliot Waugh] ([personal profile] sybaritic) {[community profile] waywardpines}
Type: Weird. Deeply. deeply weird.
Time: Oh god so. Eliot is 24; all of his deaths (... 40 of them) have occurred at 24, but a time loop has reset him 39 times, and his last death was "cheated," I would think, via revival by magic.
Notes: If you want to play with the idea that the most recent death would be the most prominent, that was caused by being slammed into bookshelves with massive concussive force.

... I'm sorry about him.
fromtv: (Default)

[personal profile] fromtv 2017-05-29 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: [Taako] ([personal profile] fromtv) {[community profile] waywardpines}
Type: Real Weird
Time: Spoilers for The Adventure Zone: Taako's been weird for nearly 101 years, having repeatedly died to causes related to The Hunger (a plane consuming entity that seeks to end existence) Regardless of the outcome however, Taako and his group are stuck in a static loop of finding a plane, saving/losing the plane, and finding themselves back in their original position in space and time before they shifted planes to begin with - So they are reliving the same year in a different reality 100 times.

He's died 8 times throughout that loop.

He's died 11 additional times in another time loop, this one confined in a bubble that was repeating the same hour over and over again.
[/end spoilers]
Notes: These transgressions were enough for the grim reaper/bounty hunter of lost souls to come after him for it - They did end up making a deal though. Regardless, it does mean he IS breaking the laws of life and death, and he's basically living on borrowed time.

Type: Alive + Weird
Time: It's unknown when in canon she'll die as of right now. And she's weird because as a child her body was biologically enhanced giving her the ability to rapidly heal herself, so injuries don't last quite as long as they do on normal zehoberei. Oh, did I mention she's an alien, because, green alien lady, yes.

Type: Alive
Time: I mean I'd like to think positively and say he'll actually make it to adulthood but considering how many suicide missions he gets sent on...........
Notes: Honestly, surprise me. I feel like making it past 30 would be a honest to god miracle considering the lifespan of the rest of his family but yeah. Surprise me

Character: Clint Barton ([personal profile] hawkguyandpizzadog) {[community profile] intothepines}
Type: alive
Time: man if clint has a decade left he'd probably consider himself lucky he makes so many bad life choices
Notes: nvm he has died before, so if that changes his time clock or whatever there you go. it was awhile back though. couple of years at least.

Character: Tobias ([personal profile] bird_thing) {[community profile] intothepines}
Type: Alive
Time: EDIT!! so his actual canon has red-tail hawks clocking out at 18 years and since I'm terrible let's go with that number which means he's got......... 4 ish more years?
Notes: idk if his time clock would be different when he's in morph. even his human shape is in effect a morph not his regular body anymore, but on the other hand his dna changes entirely when he morphs so maybe???

Character: [Letha Regis] ([personal profile] burntbridges) {[community profile] riverview}
Type: Dead / Weird
Time: She was 17 when she died, two months from her 18th birthday.
Notes: Technically speaking her soul was alive while her body died, which led to a lot of problems in the afterlife. In simplest terms, her soul was outside of her body when it was burned alive, so she simply became a living soul trapped in the afterlife and rotted into nothing rather than existing immortally like most dead do. However, she considers herself dead for all intents and purposes.

Character: [Jamie Dodger] ([personal profile] smokedout) {[community profile] riverview}
Type: Alive
Time: He has a few months to live, give or take. He'll die before he turns 26.
Notes: I'm a cruel mun and my OCs never live long.

paragon: (tws ☆ 059)

[personal profile] paragon 2017-06-03 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Steve Rogers ([personal profile] paragon) {[personal profile] officialnotice}
Type: Very much alive, but also weird.
Time: He's possibly been weird since 1943, and that might depend more on your thoughts on predestination and what have you. In a way Steve initially cheated death via the supersoldier serum; he was not a healthy man and probably wasn't looking at a long lifespan, so receiving the serum by his own choice defs circumvented that, and now he's getting close to the upper limits of any possible baseline human lifespan. He doesn't talk or even think about it much, but even without the ice Steve is very slow to age, if he does so at all, and will definitely outlive most of the people in his life now by orders of magnitude, provided he doesn't cork it by some other means (very possible also, given his life choices, but also he's very hard to kill). So basically I have no idea what his clock says.
Notes: The future is terrifying.

[personal profile] royalpassport 2017-06-03 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Jefferson ([personal profile] royalpassport) {[community profile] intothepines}
Type: Alive / POTENTIALLY Weird
Time: He's alive, but has been trapped in a curse for the past 28 years, which had one side effect of making time stand still. So it could be that his clock is paused? Or maybe not, since the curse's weakening has caused time to start moving a bit. So he might also just have a bunch of years left.
Notes: Stupid curses.

Character: Chase Collins ([personal profile] bastardofipswich) {[community profile] intothepines}
Type: DEAD
Time: 18
Notes: It's ambiguous in canon, but I decided to go the "he's dead" route instead of the "he's hanging out in some pocket dimension waiting for the sequel" route.

Character: Bucky Barnes ([personal profile] zymasoldat) {[community profile] intothepines}
Type: Alive
Time: Uhhhhhh.... SEE: STEVE ROGERS. I have no idea what his clock would say, given the serum and how difficult he is to kill.
Notes: Goddamn supersoldiers.
windchasing: (Default)

[personal profile] windchasing 2017-06-03 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Pietro Maximoff ([personal profile] windchasing) {[community profile] intothepines}
Type: Alive.. ish
Time: Pietro died in-game on May 20th at age 18, but I'm guessing that doesn't count. In canon he'll die at about 35, bludgeoned by Magneto (thnx dad), but then Wanda revives him right away, so ???? Otherwise he'll probably live to be a hundred, with those genes.
Notes: Alternatively, there are canon implications that Pietro's fate can't be predicted at all, because his twin sister manipulates reality, essentially changing their fates whenever she uses her powers, so they have infinite possible futures. There was also a demon and some chaos magic involved in their birth, so. Shit's complicated. There could be a million different numbers around his neck or none at all if that's more interesting CR-wise.

[personal profile] hellicious 2017-06-04 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Lucifer ([personal profile] hellicious) {[community profile] riverview}
Type: Very alive, possibly weird.
Time: According to comic canon, Lucifer is 10+ billion years old. He came into the existence with the rest of the archangels when God created time. He would also have no expiry date, as celestial beings are immortal. Not sure how you'd want to have him see that.
Notes: Note-wise, Lucifer has died twice in canon. Sort of. He died just long enough to pop back into Hell for a couple reasons, but he came back and wasn't any the worse for wear about it. At the moment, he's also been made whole again, so he could, feasibly, travel to and from Hell at his leisure. It's a confusing mess, but I'm happy to work things out or walk through some things with you.

Character: Danny Fenton ([personal profile] invisibill) {[community profile] intothepines}
Type: Weird
Time: Canon isn't really clear on Danny's exact state of clearing. For RP I usually play him as someone who was dying and got stuck halfway there. Half alive, half dead.
Notes: Can appear as either a living human or as a rather tangible ghost.

Character: Eichi Tenshouin ([personal profile] finethanks) {[community profile] riverview}
Type: Alive, but on death's doorstep?
Time: There's no canon date for his death yet, but since he was born with a disease that runs in his family and isn't named, he has a short life expectancy. Doctors have been telling him he could die "any day now" since he was born, basically.
Notes: Since he has no canon death date, it's really unclear if he's going to live as long as his grandfather did (which was very rare, and Eichi called him a demon for it LMAO) or if he'll die like in a couple of years or months. So!! I assume you can be vague with it, but it's safe to assume he has an early death date for a kid.

[personal profile] manmade 2017-06-05 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Character: Tieria Erde ([personal profile] manmade) {[community profile] riverview}
Type: Weird
Time: (Spoilers for end of S2) Basically Tieria was fatally shot and killed (in the "perfect head shot, no question that he died" kind of way) but thanks to Plot his consciousness/soul(?) got uploaded into a giant computer. That also gave him the ability to download himself into a new body (which he does later in canon and then proceeds to get it killed in less than day) and if that body dies, his consciousness just goes back to the computer. As long as the computer exists he's technically immortal in his canon, but since it isn't present in Riverview he's functionally just like everyone else now. So he's had one canon death and in about 2 years will have another one. I'm not sure how this would be expressed by Cain's ability.
Notes: Does Cain's ability work different for characters that are not human and/or artificially created? Because Tieria is both.
